Based on a Symbol hardware platform running Windows Mobile OS®, the PassagePoint mobile device is ruggedized and can be used in every kind of weather to scan driver's licenses, bar codes and mag stripes. Badges are printed via a Zebra wireless printer utilizing Bluetooth technology.

With PassagePoint Mobile, a school officer or staff member can greet visitors to the premises for more convenient badging. Their ID can be swiped and their badge printed, all using the handheld device, before they enter the building. If more information is needed, the visitor can complete the processing in the school office. The software is compatible with PassagePoint EDU, so badging officers will be provided with specific information on visitors including any specific restrictions or permissions.
